CHOCOLATE (AND OTHER SOFT CANDY)

This is a combination greasy/non greasy stain. Scrape excess away, then go over the spot with cool water mixed with a liquid detergent. Blot thoroughly and then clean with dry cleaning fluid.

EGG

Blot to remove excess liquid or stain. Wet fabric with minimum amount of water, soak 1 minute, and blot with paper towel. Repeat water/blot procedure until no stain is evident on towel, and then blot dry.If fabric stain is persistent, wet stained area with water. Apply small amount of detergent/water solution, work into stained area with sponge and blot. Repeat detergent/water application until no stain is evident on towel. Rinse with 3% acetic acid or 50/50 vinegar/water solution. Blot dry.

PROFESSIONAL CLEANING FREQUENCY

is determined by the furniture use, your own maintenance, upkeep and environmental conditions. As good rule of thumb overall cleaning is recomended every 12 months for most family room lounges.

MEDICINE

Blot to remove excess liquid or stain. Wet fabric with minimum amount of water, soak 1 minute, and blot with paper towel. Repeat water/blot procedure until no stain is evident on towel, and then blot dry. If fabric stain is persistent, wet stained area with water. Apply small amount of detergent/water solution, work into stained area with sponge and blot. Repeat detergent/water application until no stain is evident on towel.

BLOOD

Blot to remove excess liquid or stain. Wet fabric with minimum amount of water, soak 1 minute, and blot with paper towel. Repeat water/blot procedure until no stain is evident on towel, and then blot dry. If fabric stain is persistent, wet stained area with water. Apply small amount of detergent/water solution, work into stained area with sponge and blot. Repeat detergent/water application until no stain is evident on towel. Rinse with clear water to remove traces of detergent and blot dry. It is important to remove all traces of detergent to prevent rapid resoiling. Rinse with 3% acetic acid or 50/50 vinegar/water solution. Blot dry.

COFFEE/TEA (WITH CREAM OR SUGAR)

Blot to remove excess liquid or stain. Carefully wet stained area with 7-Up¨ or tonic water and blot with paper towel. Repeat wetting and blotting until no stain is evident on towel. Rinse with clear water and blot dry. If fabric stain is persistent, wet stained area with water. Apply small amount of detergent/water solution, work into stained area with sponge and blot. Repeat detergent/water application until no stain is evident on towel.

GREASE (INCLUDING HAIR GREASE AND OIL)

Scrap away excess if necessary and then dab repeatedly at the stain with dry cleaning fluid. If any stain remains, go over the area with a lukewarm mixture of liquid detergent and water. Always make sure you use a clean portion so you dont put the stain back in the fabric. Last, go over the area with a clean cloth moistened with cool clear water.

SHOE POLISH

Apply liquid paraffin to loosen the stain, then sponge with dry cleaning fluid.

MILK

Blot to remove excess liquid or stain. Wet stain with small amount of alcohol or dry cleaning solvent and blot dry immediately. Repeat until no stain is on paper towel. If fabric stain is persistent, wet stained area with water. Apply small amount of detergent/water solution, work into stained area with sponge and blot. Repeat detergent/water application until no stain is evident on towel.

CHENILE YARN FABRICS

Shampoo cleaning or hot-water extraction, taking care to restore the pile orientation in finishing will produce a satisfactory result. Care must be taken not to undertake concentrated rubbing on a small area, which may produce irreversible disruption of the chenille fibre. It should be noted that even the simple act of wetting the fabric is likely to produce an apperance change even if the chenille fibre is not disrupted. This is largely due to flattening of the chenille fibre while it is wet and may result in a dappled or a mottled surface. Warning: Some high pile viscose rayon chenilles, velvets and pocket weave jacquards may change in surface character if stain repellent treatments are aplied. Extra care should be taken to pre-test for these fabrics.

COSMETICS

Sponge with warm water. Apply warm gliserine. Leave for 30 minutes. Flush out with water and dry quickly.

ICE CREAM

Scrap away excess and apply cool water mixed with liquid detergent, blotting frequently with a dry cloth so as not to saturate the fabric. Let dry and then go over any remaining stain with dry cleaning fluid. Blot dry.

SOFT DRINK, SWEETS AND SYRUPS

Sponge with water, add warm glycerine and work into stain. Flush out with water and dry.

WAX (CANDLE WAX)

Let wax harden completely. Then, freeze it by applying an ice cube in a plastic bag, and then gently pulling it up. If colored wax leaves a stain, blot with rubbing alcohol, dry-cleaning solvent, or a solution of one part white vinegar and one part water. However, be sure to first test this solution in an inconspicuous area to make sure that the solution is safe for the fabric.

CHEWING GUM

Rub an ice cube over the gum to harden it, then scrape off the excees with a dull knife. To remove what’s left, use dry cleaning fluid.

FRUIT AND FRUIT JUICES

After excess is blotted up or scraped away, blot the spot with cool water. If stain remains, add liquid detergent and a drop vinegar to the water. Dab the spot with this mixture and blot until there’s no trace of a stain. Then go over the area lightly with clear water to remove traces of vinegar.

MILK AND VOMIT

Blot to remove excess liquid or stain. Wet stain with small amount of alcohol or dry cleaning solvent and blot dry immediately. Repeat until no stain is on paper towel.

SPOT CLEANING

Treat spills and stains as soon as possible. Test on hidden area to ensure fabric and colour are not removed.

Gently scrape any soil or mop any liquid from the surface of the fabric.

Use of soap or detergent with water should be approached with caution since overzealous rinsing to remove soap residue may result in over wetting, water marking and possible wetting of substructure (this may create other stains or damage products).

Our spot cleaning advice is offered in good faith and should not be considered as a guarantee that all stains may be removed. For severe stains please consult a professional upholstery cleaning company.

1. For Non Oil-Based Stains

Use warm water and non toilet soaps which do not contain optical brighteners (consider velvet soap, Lux Flakes, Softly). Mix a small amount of soap and warm water solution and apply to the stain, rubbing gently. Blot dry with a clean towel. Apply cool water (preferably rain or distilled water) and blot dry again.

Then with a hair dryer working out from the centre of the stain, dry quickly to prevent rings forming. It is generally preferable to clean whole panels of fabric in this way rather than trying to spot clean specific areas.

2. For Oil-Based Stains

Following the same basic guidelines as above, apply a proprietary brand solvent based cleaner and try to clean generally in panels rather than spot cleaning specific areas. A helpful industry secret is for spot removal of oil based biro marks by the application of a conventional hair spray.

CARE LABEL 7 – SLIP-WASH COVER

General Care

When arranging your furniture, avoid direct sunlight, as prolonged exposure can cause colours to fade in furnishing fabrics. Care should also be taken to avoid furniture touching external walls or radiators, as this could cause problems of moisture build-up/scorching damage. Take care to prevent sharp objects (e.g. children’s sandal buckles, pets’ claws) from coming into contact with your furniture, as this may cause snagging or tearing of the fabric. Vacuum regularly (weekly) using low suction. Rotate reversible cushions regularly. Pilling: Can occur occasionally as a result of normal daily wear and should not be considered as a fault. Fibre pills can be removed by a battery operated pilling tool available from most haberdashery stores.

Spot Cleaning

Treat spills and stains as soon as possible. Gently scrape any soil or mop any liquid from the surface of the fabric.

Washing Instructions

If your covers are too bulky for your machine we recommend professional washing by your local laundry, followed by professional laundry tumble drying on cool setting. Use a gentle cycle and do not wash the fabric at a temperature exceeding 40 degrees. Use a washing agent that does not contain optical brighteners and which is suitable for colour retention such as Earth Choice (3 X Ultra concentrate liquid), or Eco Store Laundry Powder or Omo Colour. Dry cleaning is possible if preferred, but some colour variation may occur if cushions are cleaned separately from the main covers.

WARNING : Do not use washing agents containing any optical brighteners, as this may affect colour, particularly if cushions and main cover are not washed at the same time. Do not mix different colours or fabrics in the wash. Do not squeeze or wring by hand. Do not apply detergent directly to covers when washing.

NOTE : Some minor colour change may occur in the initial washing stages. We recommend laundering or dry cleaning in complete cover sets to ensure there is no colour variation between cushions and main covers.

Drying Instructions

To reduce risk of shrinkage, line drying only should be used. Do not line dry in direct sunlight as this may accelerate colour loss.
